Standard Essay Format

I.          INTRODUCTION
A.          Must defend the following:
1. A clear, definitive, and compelling thesis statement
2. In literary analysis papers, title, author, and music genre or publication.
3. An explanation of thesis.
4. Transitions to the body of the text.

B.    Must not contain the following:
1. Proof or evidence of the thesis.

II.    BODY
A. Each body paragraph contains a motif sentence that relates directly to the thesis.
B. Paragraphs contain sufficient proof or evidence to support and develop thesis.

D.        Contains logical development within each paragraph.
