Winthrop Universitys College of Business Administration offers a guidance concentration. Students majoring in the program receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. The direction option consists of eighteen credit hours in addition to the required general education credit line of study. Of the vi classes required to eat up the option four classes are non-negotiable. These classes allow in Organizational opening (MGMT 325), Human Resources direction (MGMT 422), Leadership Theory and Development (MGMT 475), and Business Ethics (MGMT 575). Students can select the opposite two classes from a list of four stated in the College of Business Administrations catalog. One of the classes listed is Internship in Management (MGMT 491). This internship in management is only offered during the summer semester. Students who participate in the MGMT 491 class must pay summer tuition. Once the internship is complete students will receive three credit hours towards their management option. The management interns are required to work a minimum of one hundred fifty hours for their employer. Typically students work 20 hours a week for 10 weeks.

Other obligations that must be met by management interns entangle keeping a journal documenting all tasks performed during the week and complete an array of written questionnaires detailing the interns progress. The students nett consist of creating a final course paper incorporating line terms and concepts from previous management classes to the employers organization. Most management students avoid this course due to the substantial amount of course work; however, students who have completed the internship believe the experience gained from such an occurrence is irreplaceable.
