In January 23, 2005, Bronx firefighters were called to an apartment fire that was caused by a faulty extension cord. The fire started on the tertiary floor but quickly moved onto the fourth floor. there were six firefighters that entered an apartment on the fourth floor. The quickly became bewildered from the intensity of the set fire to. This apartment had been modified by the tenants. These rooms that they created had no windows and were said to be a stopping point trap because it eliminated visibility for the firefighters.
